TICONDEROGA – Police from multiple agencies are combing the town of Ticonderoga for a man who allegedly stabbed his girlfriend.
Jacob Sawyer, 28, of Ticonderoga, allegedly stabbed his girlfriend mid afternoon on Sunday, April 13, at a location in Ticonderoga and Ticonderoga Town Police are seeking to arrest him for felony assault, along with other offenses.
He fled the location on foot after the assault and is believed to be armed. New York State Police, State Environmental Conservation Police and State Forest Rangers have joined the search. A State Police helicopter is also involved in the search.
“All residents are asked to remain in their homes and report any suspicious activity around their homes,” the release from Ticonderoga Police said.
The girlfriend, whose name was not released, was transported by LifeNet helicopter to UVM Medical Center in Burlington with serious injuries to the upper body, authorities said.
Sawyer was already on bail release for a January arrest for felony 2nd-degree assault, 2nd-degree menacing with weapon, 2nd-degree unlawful imprisonment, 1st-degree burglary, and first-degree criminal contempt involving his now-estranged girlfriend.
Police said anyone who thinks they’ve seen Sawyer should call 911 and not approach him.
