GIRLS TRACK
Peabody 75, Swampscott 9: The Tanners (7-1-1) handled business to finish in a tie atop the NEC Dunn with Beverly for the league title. Kayley Bunn won the hurdles, Mimi Batista won the dash, Jane Haight was first in the mile, Avery Marcus won the 300, Madi Barrett won the 600, Lily Furcal was first in the 2-mile, Makayla Kokozenis topped the high jump and Alessandra Forgione won the shot put.
Masconomet 64, Gloucester 18: The Chieftains won the NEC Lynch title and finished as the league’s only undefeated team. Piper Testa led a sweep of the 300 and other event winners were Angelina Zepaj (hurdles), Caroline Losee (dash and high jump), Madison Gibeau-Schmitt (mile), Ellie Green (2-mile) and Sophia Dumais (shot put).
BOYS TRACK
Peabody 65, Swampscott 21: Event winners for the Tanners were Eli Batista (dash), Peyton Smith (hurdles), Evan Bedard (300), Mohamed Lhassouani (600), Ty Couillard (2-mile) and Alex Jackson remained undefeated in the shot put to help Peabody win the NEC Dunn title.
For the Big Blue, Simon Brown took first in the mile, George Hosking won the high jump and Hunter Hersey won the 1000.
Masconomet 68, Gloucester 18: Picking up wins for the Chieftains were Nathan Molina (dash), Colin Moran (hurdles), Luke Maynard (mile), Owen Walsh (2-mile) and Nathan Molina (high jump) to seal up the NEC Lynch dual meet crown.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Ipswich 64, Hamilton-Wenham 58: The Tigers (7-8) won for the fifth time in their last seven games and took a step towards making the state playoffs. Going 14-for-15 at the line helped put away the Gens, as did some big fourth quarter buckets by Max Chesley and Nick DeLeon, who scored 21 points each. James Norris (14 points) also played an excellent all-around game for IHS.
Wakefield 60, Salem 53: The Witches (8-5) lost a non-conference game for the first time this season and split the season series against the Warriors. Freshman Elian Rodroguez had 19 points along with six rebounds, three steals and four assists and fellow freshman Jordan Maxson scored 12. Senior Corey Grimes added eight and senior Devante Ozuna scored seven.
BOYS SKIING
Eagles win two: St. John’s Prep was tops in the slalom and defeated Masconomet (108-27) and Hamilton-Wenham (101-34). Sam Charrette (26.16) and Josh Haarman (26.20) were the first two down the mountain to lead the Prep while Owen McLain (27.23) was fifth and Sam Tucker (28.78) and Colton Friedlander (29.10) also placed highly.
Chieftains, Generals drop two: Besides falling to St. John’s Prep, Masconomet lost to Newburyport (83-52) and Hamilton-Wenham was felled by Andover (71-64). Turning in strong performances for Masconomet were Owen Palmer (28.58) and Ethan Daly (29.18) while the Generals were led by Will Harrington in sixth overall (27.27). Cooper Bousum (29.88) and Jack Totten (30.51) also had good runs.
GIRLS SKIING
Masco wins two: In the first slalom race of the season, the Chieftains handled Newburyport (96-39) and Manchester Essex (103.5-31.5) led by Amanda Schneider, who was second overall in 26.61 seconds. Megan Riley finished third (26.72) while Hannah Mitchell also had a great run at 27.96.
Generals sweep: Unbeaten Hamilton-Wenham (9-0) remained that way by beating Manchester Essex (96-39) and Andover (79-56). Evie Bernard finished fourth among all racers with a time of 27.30 seconds, Stewart Bernard was sixth in 27.91 and Sydney Smith also finished in the top ten in 28.05.
GIRLS HOCKEY
Masconomet 3, Medford 2: Trailing by a pair in the third period, Allie LaCava brought the Chieftains back by scoring twice on the same shift to get the game tied up. Hannah Coleman then netted the game-winner as Masco evened its record at 7-7. Assists were eared by Bella Flinn and Charlotte Leiss.
Bishop Fenwick 4, Arlington Catholic 2: Junior captain Penny Levine Stein scored a pair of goals, Molly Sullivan lit the lamp and Maggie DuFrense scored her first varsity as Fenwick (4-11) won its second straight. Mya Jewell, Maddie Faragi, Brynn Lally, Neolla Miserandino and Karissa Burgess all earned assists and captain Ella Tucker played well in net.
GYMNASTICS
Bishop Fenwick 127.35, Peabody 91.0: Addy Gilman was first all-around with a 31.45 lead the Crusaders. Sophie Koles was second all-around at 30.8 while Gabby Millett won floor (8.45) and Ava Dinitto won beam (8.4), vault (9.0) and bars (8.0). For the Tanners, Molly Hagerty scored an 8.0 on vault and also a 7.9 on floor.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Beaver Country Day 49, Pingree 29: Bella Vaz led the Highlanders with 11 points and Antonella Najim scored six.
Pentucket 59, Essex Tech 19: Thais Dos Santos and Kianna Sholds led the Hawks (4-12) with six points each and Marissa Perez also chipped in with three.
Hamilton-Wenham 45, Ipswich 38: A strong third quarter helped the Generals open up the game and snap their three-game skid. Freshman Grace Harres scored 15 points and led three Gens in double figures as Gaby Campbell netted 11 and Sasha Makogonov scored 10. For the Tigers, Lucy Donahue and Allie Wile scored 14 each.
GIRLS SWIMMING
NEC championships held: Marblehead won the NEC girls swim championships at the Y in Beverly with 515 points. Peabody/Essex Tech was second with 384 followed by Masco at 382, Swampscott at 305, Danvers at 257, Gloucester at 177, Salem at 131, Beverly at 115.
Combining the scores with the boys meet earlier in the week, Marblehead was first overall with 1,095 points with Peabody/Essex Tech garnering 695, Masconomet totaling up 673 and Danvers at 454.
MEN’S COLLEGE HOCKEY
Salem State 6, Framingham State 4: Zach Dill’s power play goal with 3:31 to play gave Salem State the lead in a Military Appreciation Night home win. Dill had two goals and an assist on the night, Erik Larsson had a goal and two helpers and Carson Whitman and Ryan Barnett also scored. Hunter Thomas made 39 saves.
