Three standout softball players from Newton County High School signed to play in college on Wednesday.
Third baseman Maeli Ben signed to Pearl River Community College after hitting .333 with seven doubles, two triples, four home runs and 21 RBIs. Shortstop Brelie Phillips signed to Co-Lin Community College and begins her senior season with a .471 batting average and 14 doubles, two triples, 35 RBIs and 22 stolen bases. Outfielder Abagail Pippin signed to East Central Community College with a .275 batting average, two doubles, 10 RBIs and 11 Stolen Bases.
These seniors are led by NCHS head coach Justin Chaney and assistant coaches Madalyn Irby, Matthew Beasley and Natalie Lampton.
