THOMASVILLE- Have you ever heard the expression, “taste of place?” This concept, terroir, is used to describe wine, cheese and a variety of other things and refers to the presence of flavor notes of a specific location in the food. This year for Crate to Plate, Thomasville History Center is setting their sights on Provence, a region in the south of France on the Mediterranean known for its natural wonders, sweeping lavender fields, and sea air. Ripe with lemon and olive groves, Provence and the terroir of the region serve as the inspiration for the Crate to Plate menu, cocktails, and surprises in this year’s crate.
Each crate includes a complete meal for two- from appetizers to dessert and everything in between. The whispers of the Mediterranean will transport diners as they enjoy a delicious meal from JB Crumbs with additions by Grateful Hill Farm, Au Peche Mignon, Liams Restaurant & Cheese Shoppe, and more.
Now entering its fifth year, Crate to Plate is the major fundraiser for the ongoing operations and work of the Thomasville History Center. Since 1952, the Thomasville History Center has collected and preserved the rich history of Thomasville, Thomas County, and the Red Hills region. With storytelling and stewardship at their core, the public’s support of Crate to Plate ensures the continued enrichment of the community.
Purchase crates today at thomasvillehistory.org/cratetoplate. Attendees may chose to enjoy their crate to go, or on the grounds with friends and loved ones. For groups of six or more, the History Center asks that a reservation for a table be made in advance for a nominal fee.
