THOMASVILLE – The Thomas County Middle School swim team journeyed up to Tift County to take part in the second Tift Middle meet this season.
The relay teams started the meet off well as the boys and girls team took sixth in the 200 yard medley. The boys relay team consisted of Cain Childs, Jackson Kelly, Chavita Correa and Trey Huffmaster. In the pool for the girls relay team was Celia Perry, Abbie Love, Zoie Anglin and Michelle Bradshaw. Later in the meet the girls relay team finished fourth in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 5:12.49.
Individually, the girls did well in the meet. 11-year-old Zoie Anglin was a stand out in the pool for the Yellow Jackets as she finished top five in multiple races. Anglin had a fourth place finish in the 200 yard freestyle and a fifth place finish in the 50 yard butterfly right behind team mate Celia Perry who took fourth.
The best individual finish of the day for the girls was swam by 14-year-old Abbie Love, who took third place in the 500 free with a time of 6:37.34.
For the boys, it was Trey Huffmaster who stood out among the crowd with a pair of second place finishes in the 50 and 100 freestyle events. He finished the 50 free in under 30 seconds and the 100 free in just over a minute. Another stand out for the boys was Chavita Correa who took sixth in the 200 free and fourth in a tough 50 yard butterfly race that saw him finish with a time of 39.10.
After all was said and done, Thomas County Middle finished fourth overall, tied with Jeff Davis Middle School with 74 points. The girls finished fifth, while the boys finished third, tied with Colquitt County.
