METHUEN — Even a visit from the Grinch couldn’t dampen the festive spirit at an annual holiday party for local veterans.
Dozens of area veterans gathered Sunday for the party at the Methuen VFW.
The event featured food, music, a yankee gift swap, and visits from Santa and the Grinch.
Vietnam Veteran Ed “Hoppy” Curran and The Veterans Den Band performed.
Female inmates from the Women in Transition facility in Salisbury decorated and hand-painted ceramic ornaments which were used as centerpieces at the party. The women did this as part of their “healthy hobbies” group.
The Mass Elks Charitable Trust presented a $500 check to the party’s host, International Veterans Care Services, which has offices in Lawrence and Methuen.
The IVCS motto is, “Proudly serving others who served us.”
