The grandchildren of Anthony Saputo, president of Gloucester’s St. Peter’s Club, experienced some Christmas wonder that had the hand of St. Francis, patron saint of animals, involved in the unexpected surprise.
It started when Lennon, 3, and Emersyn, 2, children of Ryan and Samantha Woundy (Saputo’s daughter), left milk and cookies out near their Christmas tree for Santa’s night-time travels on Christmas Eve. They also placed reindeer food outside their home in West Gloucester to make sure Santa’s transport was cared for and well nourished.
Before they went to bed, they were looking out the window and to their surprise, they saw a very large deer walk up to the food and start to feast, just inches away from the window.
For the youngsters and their parents, who captured the moment in a photo, that will be a memory to live on for many Christmases to come.
