The Dalton-Whitfield County Public Library is proud to partner with Dalton State College’s Derrell C. Roberts Library for the One Community Reads project, a community-wide reading event.
The project brings community members together through shared discussions and events based on reading. All participants read the same book and engage in shared conversations about the topics discussed. Participants can also enjoy activities and presentations for readers of all ages.
“Difficult Conversations: How to Discuss What Matters Most” by Douglas Stone, Bruce Patton and Sheila Heen guides readers through having difficult conversations and is backed by almost 30 years of research. Readers will learn to challenge difficult conversations, raise tough questions, balance reactions and emotions, and get to the root cause of the issue. Copies of “Difficult Conversations: How to Discuss What Matters Most” will be available for checkout at the Dalton-Whitfield County Public Library and the Derrell C. Roberts Library beginning Oct. 7.
To accompany the reading, the libraries will host workshops, programs and a movie screening. Follow both libraries on social media for details.
