WEST NEWBURY — The nonprofit Pentucket Arts Foundation will present the third annual Maple Crest Terror Trail at Maple Crest Farm on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 6 to 9 p.m. Rain date is Sunday, Oct. 22.
Organizers Josef Allen and Julie Malchow are developing the Terror Trail in partnership with farmer John Elwell, owner of the 102 Moulton St. site, which dates back to 1729.
Terror Trail is an evening of interactive performance art in the form of a creepy haunted trail walk through a secluded wooded area. Once into the woods, trail-walkers will quickly discover they are in the wrong place at the wrong time. Do they have what it takes to make it through the trail as a cult of unholy worshipers – played by local actors – tries to capture and sacrifice them to the demonic deity, Vahkor?
Once again, Storyteller Tony Toledo will spin spooky ghost tales around the fire and new this year, Monster Photo-Ops will provide chances throughout the evening to snap a picture with a ghoul. Both of these offerings are free and open to the public. Fall treats from the concession stand are available for purchase.
Geared for ages 12 through adult, Terror Trail is not for young children or the faint of heart. This public art performance is designed for people who relish a genuinely good scare during the spooky season, Allen and Malchow stress.
Tickets are $10 for unlimited trips through the Terror Trail and can be purchased at the farm or online at pentucketarts.org. Proceeds directly benefit the fine and performing arts in the Tri-Town Region.
