The Whitfield County Board of Tax Assessors has named Interim Chief Appraiser Kristi Queen as the sole finalist for chief appraiser.
Queen has served as interim chief appraiser since former chief appraiser Ashley O’Donald left the position in March 2023. That office is in charge of assessing the value of all property in the county for tax purposes.
“We did have 10 applicants apply and we narrowed the list down to two candidates,” said board Chairman James Gordon. “The board interviewed the two candidates and Kristi emerged as the sole finalist. Kristi has done an outstanding job as the interim chief appraiser for the last 11 months. The board looks forward to working with her as the chief appraiser.”
The board is set to confirm Queen as chief appraiser at its Monday, Feb. 19, meeting.
Queen is a Georgia level 4 certified appraiser who has been with the tax assessors office for 27 years, including 14 years as deputy chief appraiser.
“I feel privileged to have been granted this opportunity, having dedicated nearly 27 years of service to the residents of Whitfield County,” she said. “It is with great pride that I assume the role of Whitfield County’s chief appraiser. I am committed to leading an office that values teamwork, professionalism, integrity and excellence.”
