A Putnam County man is accused of stealing more than $1,000 worth of merchandise from Walmart Friday night. The merchandise ranged from a paint ball gun and 1,000 paint balls, a drone, Razor, LED lights and household items, according to a report.
Jesse Michael Maynard, 36, no address available, of Cookeville, is charged with the single count of theft of merchandise of more than $1,000.
He was jailed without bond pending an appearance in General Sessions Court.
According to Crossville Police Department’s Sptl. Steven McNeal’s report, police were dispatched to Walmart May 27 on a report of a suspected shoplifting leaving the store with a shopping cart full of merchandise. The man fled in a 1988 Ford F-150 pickup truck.
Cumberland County sheriff’s deputies located the vehicle and assisted city police in recovering $1,026.48 worth of merchandise that had been taken from the store.
The merchandise was returned to the store, and the suspect jailed on the theft charge. He is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on Thursday, June 5.
