Nursing Explorer, an independent, comprehensive resource for prospective nurses throughout America, has recognized SUNY Niagara’s Registered Nursing (RN) program as one of the best in New York state. The college came in at No. 4 in Nursing Explorer’s 2025 statewide rankings released this month.
SUNY Niagara students’ high pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) helped the college earn this distinction, which places SUNY Niagara’s RN program among the best in the state. From 2022 through 2024, 95% of the college’s nursing students passed the NCLEX-RN.
“We are proud of this acknowledgement because it shows that our students and nursing faculty are dedicated to excellence,” said Dr. Martha Kershaw, dean of nursing, physical health and allied health at SUNY Niagara. “We want every new RN from SUNY Niagara to be confident in their skills and every healthcare employer to know that our graduates are well prepared to succeed in professional practice. This ranking attests to that.”
Nursing Explorer’s 2025 Nursing Programs Rankings are based on publicly available NCLEX-PN and NCLEX-RN pass rates from each state’s board of nursing, with data collected for the most recent three-year period ending in 2024.
To be eligible for Nursing Explorer ranking, a program must have:
• Graduated students in at least two of the past three years.
• An average NCLEX-RN pass rate of at least 80%.
