Starting the school year on the right foot.
The Vermilion County Regional Office of Education knows that well and they also know about the impact of a new pair of shoes can make in that endeavor.
According to a news release, to help prepare students in the Truant’s Alternative Educational and Optional Education Program, parents were invited to bring their students to a school supply and shoe distribution event at the Regional Office of Education.
Nearly 80 Vermilion County students were fitted for shoes provided by Body N’ Sole Sports, Inc., Savoy. They were also presented essential school supplies and an alarm clock.
“The ROE is excited to be able to offer these key items, which set our students up for success,” said Aaron Hird, Regional Superintendent of Schools in the news release. “We hope it boosts student confidence and alleviates some of the stress associated with the start of a new school year.”
To further help meet the needs of community students, the ROE also donated several pairs of shoes to Fair Hope Children’s Ministry for distribution.
