For the first time in a long time, Stone Memorial High School will be represented next week at the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association State Golf Championships.
The event, running Oct. 10-11, will be at the Sevierville Golf Club.
Bass, who has been showing improvement every match this season, performed at a high level in the district tourney.
That effort put her in the region tournament the following week. She kept the ride going and shot a great score in the regional to eventually win a spot in the state.
She made the most of the opportunity as she fired a blistering 77 over the Golden Eagle Golf Club course in Cookeville. She finished fourth in the final standings.
In the region tournament, the top team advances to the state championship in Sevierville. Then the next four athletes not on the winning team will also move on to the state event.
Molly Bass finished second on the team for Stone Memorial with a 95. Candance Elmore completed the 18 holes with score of 103.
DeKalb County won the girls regional title with a team score of 144. Upperman had a 170, and Stone finished with a 172. Coffee County shot 213, while Lincoln County fired a 278.
Two Panther players also participated in the tournament.
Colton Harden fired an 84 over the course, while Evin Moseley shot 93.
