Stone Memorial High School announced Marcy Harelson will be the next principal. This announcement comes with several changes in positions.
SMHS Principal Kelly Smith will hold the position until July 1 when she will step into the 9-12 curriculum and instruction supervisor role.
Dr. William Scott Maddox held the 9-12 curriculum and instruction supervisor role until he indicated his intent to retire in mid-May. Maddox and Smith will share responsibilities until July 1.
Harelson currently sits in the SMHS assistant principal position.
In a Friday release, Interim Director of Schools Rebecca Farley expressed her confidence in Harelson and Dr. Cassie Warner, who was named Cumberland County High School principal June 6.
“Both of these ladies are experienced educators and will bring a wealth of knowledge to these buildings!” said Farley. “Congratulations Dr. Warner and Mrs. Harelson! I can’t wait to see the amazing things you will accomplish.”
