Summer weather is just arriving, but Steven Page is thinking about winter.
The former Barenaked Ladies singer, who has lived in the Syracuse area for more than 15 years, announced he’s releasing a new holiday album in the fall. “Steven’s Greetings” will feature new original holiday songs, covers of festive classics, and “some new interpretations of holiday songs from my BNL days, along with fan favorites like ‘Cheese Log’ and ‘Christmas In Toronto.’”
“I’m really proud of this new record and can’t wait to tour it this November and December with the Steven Page Trio,” Page said. “The Steven’s Greetings tour will feature selections from the new album, along with non-holiday hits from across my nearly 40-year career.”
Tour dates include a Christmas concert on Dec. 17 at the Riviera Theatre in North Tonawanda.
Page, a Canada native who lives in Manlius, is a singer-songwriter best known for Barenaked Ladies hits like “The Old Apartment,” “It’s All Been Done,” “Call and Answer” and “Brian Wilson.” The alternative pop-rock band released a holiday album, “Barenaked for the Holidays,” in 2004 with songs like “Jingle Bells,” “I Have a Little Dreidel,” “Green Christmas,” “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/We Three Kings” (with Sarah McLachlan) and “Hanukkah Blessings.”
Page has not revealed the tracklisting or release date for his new album yet.
Page left BNL in 2009 but reunited with the group for their 2018 induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. He currently performs as a solo artist and with the Steven Page Trio (plus the Trans-Canada Highwaymen), and has taken the stage at local shows.
