What a finish.
The 2025 NFL Season and Week 18 of the “I Beat Burt” Contest came down a coin flip game and missed field goal in Pittsburgh.
Rebounding from my worst week of the season — 4-9 on Week 17 — I finished the 2025 season with one of my better weeks getting 11 winners out of the 16 games.
It was a tough week in general due to many teams resting their starters, especially quarterbacks.
Only four of the 325 entries picked 12 or more winners. My “key” pick, a lucky one, was the Steelers over the Ravens. If the Ravens won, there were 40 entries that would’ve beaten me.
It was a great year, No. 29, in that picking pro football games is becoming a tougher, more interesting chore with fewer great teams.
I appreciate the responses I’ve received this year, from several dozen regulars who pick games every week.
You’ll notice some winners come from other areas of the country, most of whom have moved away but still rely on local news.
Enjoy the playoffs. I believe the Patriots are legitimate Super Bowl contenders not only over the next four weeks but the next several years.
