This season’s I Love NY Fall Foliage Reports are officially underway.
Reports are obtained from more than 100 volunteer field observers and reflect expected color conditions for the coming weekend. I Love NY defines “peak” as the best overall appearance the foliage will have during the season, taking into account color transition, brilliance, and leaf droppage.
The first signs of the spectacular seasonal colors are appearing in regions throughout upstate New York, and the most significant changes are expected in the Adirondacks. Locations with the most significant foliage change this weekend will include Tupper Lake, Long Lake, Wilmington, Benson, Lake Pleasant and Old Forge (Adirondacks); Delhi (Catskills); and Utica (Central New York).
In Niagara County, we’re expected to see a 5% change in North Tonawanda with touches of reds and yellows.
No significant foliage changes are expected across the rest of the county.
It’s the same story for Orleans County, with no significant foliage change coming this weekend.
A 5% foliage change is expected in Buffalo and Batavia in Erie County.
