New York State Police at Norwich is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying an individual in connection with an assault that occurred June 30, according to a news release.
Around 11:35 a.m., troopers were dispatched to the Dollar General on state Route 12 in the town of Norwich for a report of an assault.
Police said that a man approached another man as he was exiting the store, yelled at him and punched him in the face, causing the victim to fall to the ground and possibly strike his head. The victim was treated at the scene by members of Norwich Ambulance for a cut above his eyebrow. He declined transportation to a hospital.
Prior to the assault, the victim appeared irritated and made remarks to a woman who was checking out ahead of him. Police believe the man involved in the assault was accompanying the woman, who may have been working for DoorDash.
The suspect is described as a white male, about 6 feet tall, with a muscular build and short light brown hair. The pair are believed to have left the area in a blue SUV.
