A Florida man was killed late Monday afternoon after his Jeep was struck by a concrete truck at Bartz and Rapids roads in Lockport.
New York State Police say the accident occurred about 5:15 p.m Monday. An investigation determined a 2021 Jeep had been stopped at the stop sign on Bartz Road when it entered the intersection with Rapids Road and was struck by a 2008 Mack concrete truck.
The operator of the Jeep, Angel J. Reyes, 58 of Haines City, Florida, was taken by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center where he later died of his injuries. A 50-year-old passenger in the Jeep was transported to Erie County Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. The 35-year-old operator of the Mack was not injured.
The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted in the investigation.
