Oneonta’s Nolan Stark and three other local baseball players were name First Team All-State by the New York Sports Writers Association on Tuesday. Aug. 11.
Stark made First Team for Class B.
Unatego pitcher Xander Johnson made First Team for Class C.
Gilboa pitcher David Cammer and Schenevus infielder Tim Green made First Team for Class D.
Stark, who was The Daily Star’s Player of the Year in baseball in 2024 and 2026, was 9-1 for Oneonta in 2026, leading the Yellowjackets to their third straight Section IV title. In 65 varsity innings, Stark had 92 strikeouts and 12 walks. He threw a five-inning perfect game in Oneonta’s playoff win over Spencer-Van Etten/Candor on May 22, at Joe Hughes Field.
Stark, who will attend University of North Carolina, Wilmington, and play baseball for the Division I Seahawks, was also an All-Star for the Oneonta Outlaws this summer, making the Second Team in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League. He said he expects to play in the infield or as a utility outfielder in college.
Joining Stark on the Class B team were his Oneonta teammates, Brady Carr and Britten Zeh. Carr, who will play basketball at Hartwick College, made the Second Team as a pitcher and first baseman. Zeh, who will play basketball at Keuka College, was named Honorable Mention for his play at third base and as a pitcher.
Johnson, whose brother Braeden shared the POY Award with Stark in 2024, has been the SpartanDevils ace since his older brother graduated. He led Unatego/Franklin to a Midstate Athletic Conference title and the Section IV Class C title game in 2026. The Spartan/Devils lost to MAC rival Deposit/Hancock in the section finals. Johnson did lead his team to a section title in 2025, pitching a no-hitter in the title game.
Joining Johnson on the Class C team were his teammate Jack Kingsbury and D/H’s Brody Matthews on the Fourth Team and Jacoby Mapes from D/H on the Fifth Team. Noah Bass from D/H and Connor Davy from Bainbridge-Guilford received Honorable Mention.
Cammer’s Gilboa-Conesville/Roxbury combined team and Green’s Schenevus/Charlotte Valley combined team clashed in the Section IV Class D finals and again in the sub-regionals, with S/CV winning both games. Cammer was the ace for G-C/R, but Green was the star of the section title game, hitting a home run and a double in the two at bats where the RocketCats pitched to him.
Cammer’s teammate Garrison Ross made the Class D Second Team. Green’s teammate Allen Osborne was named Honorable Mention.
