ST. PETER — An open house 3-6 p.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Area Food Shelf, 201B S. Third St., is planned to celebrate the emergency pantry’s transformation into a more inviting space for shoppers.
Tours, activities for children and snacks are planned.
The spruced-up food bank recently was designated as a SuperShelf by the University of Minnesota Extension Service program.
Based on over a decade of research and experience working with food shelves across Minnesota, an Extension Service team of SNAP-Ed health-and-wellness coordinators helped more than 80 emergency pantries improve the layout of their spaces, according to Extension. The revamps are an effort to reduce stigma and promote shopper choice.
