The parish of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Niagara Falls will host a centennial celebration on Saturday and Sunday.
The church was founded in Niagara Falls in 1926 by Lebanese and Greek immigrants and continues to grow with descendants of our founders and converts to the Orthodox faith. The first church was built in 1926 in downtown Niagara Falls, but the church has been at its current location at 1073 Saunders Settlement Road since 1980 and have been able to add a church school extension, portico and a mosaic of St. George to the original building.
Past and present members from across the country will be celebrating with His Eminence Saba Isper the Archbishop of New York and Metropolitan of the Antiochian Christian Archdiocese of North America.
A centennial banquet and dance will be held Saturday night.
Sunday will feature a Orthros & Hierarchical Divine Liturgy followed by a fellowship picnic.
The Vespers for the Feast of the Elevation of the Cross will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday.
