2021-22: Emily Rubio
School: Pentucket.
MVP Season Highlights: All told, it ended up being an easy decision to name the Pentucket great our back-to-back MVP. As a junior during the 2021 spring campaign, Rubio became the first athlete in school history to qualify for three events at the All-State Meet. She did this through her dominance during the season, which saw her named the CAL Open Athlete of the Meet after winning league titles in both the high jump (5-2) and 400 hurdles (67.61), while also taking second in the long jump (17-9). Up next was the Division 2 North Sectional, where she would win the high jump (5-2), place second in the hurdles (66.22) and third in the long jump (17-10) to lead Pentucket to the overall team championship. It was also a season that saw her lead the then-Sachems to the Division 4 State Relay title, taking part in the winning high jump, shuttle hurdle and 4×200 relays.
Then as a senior in 2022 … how about being named an All-American?
Rubio’s legendary Pentucket career ended out in Eugene, Oregon at Nike Nationals, where she high jumped a personal-best 1.69 meters (5-5.50) to place sixth overall and earn All-American status. Earlier in the season at Meet of Champions, she was both second in the pentathlon with a school-record score (3244 points), and fourth in the long jump (18-1.50). Rubio was the Division 5 State Champion in both the pentathlon (3241) and the long jump (18-11.50), while also taking third in the high jump (5-2), and a week prior she was crowned the CAL Open Champion in the high jump (5-0), long jump (18-0) and 100 hurdles (15.16). She left Pentucket as a seven-time Daily News All-Star and four-time MVP between the indoor and outdoor seasons.
Post-Graduate: Unsurprisingly, Rubio has continued her track dominance at the next level, having just wrapped up her junior year at Middlebury College. Just this year alone during the indoor season, she was named an NCAA First Team All-American in the pentathlon (personal-best 3603 points), and was the Division III New England Champion in the pentathlon (3554). Then during the outdoor season, she was named both All-NESCAC as well as a USTFCCCA All-Region for the heptathlon, high jump and 400 hurdles. The two-time NESCAC All-Academic has the Middlebury school record in the both the pentathlon (3603) and the heptathlon (4576).
2023: Teagan Wilson

MVP Season Highlights: Wilson ended up being a two-sport Daily News MVP for us her senior year in both hockey and outdoor track. That spring, she earned the title of CAL Open Champion in the 100 hurdles (15.73), and also claimed bronze medals at the league meet in both the long jump (17-11) and the triple jump (35-4.50). Up next was the Division 5 State Championship, where Wilson took second in the triple jump (35-8.50), third in the long jump (18-3) and fifth in the 100 hurdles (15.70).
