ATKINSON — Atkinson Congregational Church invites you to save the date – Saturday, May 10 – for Spring Fest ’25. Running from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. rain or shine, a wide range of activities are planned, as well as food-truck deliciousness.
Bring the kids for face painting, bouncy house fun, and touch-a-truck exploration. Various games are scheduled for kids and adults, and music will be playing.
Admission is free. However, donations will be greatly appreciated. All proceeds will help fund the church’s many missions and programs, as well as local food pantries.
“Spring Fest is turning into an anticipated community event, which has been one of our goals since our inauguration last year,” said Pastor Jim Thomas. “Please join us for a day filled with fun, food, and camaraderie.”
Confirmed food truck vendors include Boogalows Island BBQ, creators of Jamaican specialties; AG’s Kitchen and Catering, featuring homemade American street food; Purple Snack Shack, offering novelty ice cream bars, snacks, sweets, and beverages.
Also, Heaven’s Kitchen Food Truck, an initiative of St. Anne Charitable Outreach to alleviate food insecurity. More food truck vendors are expected to join the lineup.

Presentation on’last phase’ of life
KENSINGTON — The Kensington Public Library will host Ellie Atherton, author of “Stepping Stones,” from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the library, 126 Amesbury Road, for a presentation on “The Last Phase of Life: Preparation, Caregiving, Embracing the Mystery.”
Join for a meaningful conversation and Atherton’s practical guidance on preparing for death. This will be a wonderful opportunity to learn from her many years of experience. Topics will include:
• Understanding Advance Directives, Portable DNR, and POLST (Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment)
• When to start planning;
• Becoming a caregiver;
• Recognizing the phases – life review, physical changes, last days, death bed visions, and final hours;
• Having eyes for the mystery and beauty during this sacred time.
A registered nurse, Atherton has been caring for the dying as a hospice nurse since 2003. She has presented a TEDx talk, designed and taught courses, and offers public presentations to enhance knowledge and reduce fears of dying.
The presentation is free and open to the public.

Club hosts bulkshredding event
ATKINSON — The Atkinson Women’s Civic Club will once again host a Bulk Shredding Event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 19, at the Atkinson Community Center, 4 Main St. The event will be held rain or shine.
Safely dispose of your confidential documents by having them shredded onsite. The cost is $10 per standard box (9” x 11” x 14”). Additional fees will apply for larger boxes. The onsite shredding truck has a viewing monitor, so you can stay and watch your documents be destroyed.

Lions, Scoutshosts fundraiser
ATKINSON — The Atkinson Lions and the Atkinson Cub Scouts will host a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday, April 13 at the Atkinson Community Center, 4 Main St.
The menu will feature pancakes, eggs, sausages, juice, and coffee at a cost of $12 for adults and $5 for children under age 10.
Any profits will go back to the community and also support the Atkinson Cub Scouts. Come enjoy a great breakfast and get to know your neighbors.
Program topic iscivil war currency
EPPING — The Civil War Roundtable of New Hampshire will next meet at 7:15 p.m. Friday, April 11, at the Harvey-Mitchell Library, 151 Main St. Doors open at 6:45 p.m.,
Speakers Andrew Andriopoulos and John Manning will present a program on Civil War currency.
With the country split in two, it was inevitable that the currency would undergo major changes on both sides of the war. Interesting facts will be presented explaining how our money got to be the currency we know. Guests are welcome.
Please note, this meeting is on the second Friday in April so as not to conflict with the Good Friday and Easter holidays.

Church to hostpancake breakfast
ATKINSON — Atkinson Congregational Church will host a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, April 12. All are invited to feast on pancakes, sausages, orange juice, coffee, and hot chocolate.
Cost is $8 for adults, and $5 for kids 4-8. Children 4 and younger eat for free.
The breakfast is a fundraiser to help support the church’s various missions and charitable projects.
Learn about’at-risk turtles’
EAST KINGSTON — The program “Brake for Turtles: Habitat Use, Threats and Conservation of At-Risk Turtles in New Hampshire” is scheduled for 5 p.m., Wednesday, May 14, at the East Kingston Public Library.
Presenter Joshua Megyesy, a wildlife biologist at N.H. Fish & Game Department’s Nongame and Endangered Wildlife Program, will present on all seven species of New Hampshire turtles and their habitats; highest ranked threats; conservation actions to protect rare turtles; and how you can help.
The program is free and open to the public. Registration is not required.
Women’s groupoffers scholarship
HAMPSTEAD —The P.E.O. Chapter D-NH announces their Betty Anne Adams Scholarship (a minimum of $1,000) will be awarded to a high school graduating female student attending a two- or four-year accredited college or university.
The student must live in Atkinson, Fremont, Hampstead, Chester, Newton, Plaistow, Salem or Windham.
P.E.O. is an international philanthropic organization of almost a quarter million women that raises money for the education of women through scholarships and other forms of financial aid.
The scholarship will be awarded during the second semester upon completing the required online information with PEO International and with Chapter D, Hampstead. If an applicant is successful they will be notified online.

HAMPSTEAD — Island Pond Baptist Church cordially invites the public to Easter weekend services at the church located at 26 North Salem Road.
A Good Friday service will be held at 6 p.m. April 18. No childcare is available, but kids are welcome in this family friendly service.
There will be two unique services on Easter, April 20. A short, 6:30 a.m. sunrise service in the parking lot, with a free breakfast to follow, and at 10:30 a.m, they will have a full morning service. Come to one, or come to both.

Garden Clubscholarship
ATKINSON — Atkinson Garden Club will award a $1,500 scholarship to an Atkinson resident and graduating high school senior who is planning to further their education in horticulture, landscaping, conservation, forestry, agriculture, ecology, botany, environmental engineering, biology, and related subjects.
The application deadline is May 2. The scholarship will be awarded for the second semester tuition charges.
