Rockport will look to snap a four-game losing skid when it hosts Essex Tech on Monday.
Gloucester wrestlers go 4-1
Competing at the Brookline Duals Tournament over the weekend, Gloucester was able to pick up four wins in five bouts: a 42-37 win over Cambridge, 43-42 over Winchester, 51-21 over Marlborough and 45-33 over Plymouth South. The Fishermen’s only loss came to Beverly, 41-30.

Rockport hockey drops two
The Vikings’ boys hockey team couldn’t keep pace with Shawsheen Tech this past Thursday, suffering an 8-0 loss against the talented team. Two days later, Rockport fell to Pentucket by a 5-1 score. In the first loss, goalie Luke Holmes made 37 saves on 45 shots in an effort to keep his team in it. Matt Coughlin and Ryan Meaney each had near goals, with the latter hitting the cross bar in the third period.
“The score wasn’t really indicative of how well we played for long stretches of the game,” admitted head coach Garrett Stevens, his team now 2-9. “The trick now is to play that well for longer stretches and get some of our swagger back in the offensive end of the ice.”
Against Pentucket, Meaney found the back off the net off an assist from Ben Sperry. Goalie Cooper Miller drew the start and made 24 saves.
“Have to have a short memory with a game on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday of the coming week against good teams,” added Stevens. “This is a hard working and younger team that when we figure out how to do the little things that consistently lead to success, will get off the schneid we’re currently on.”
