Hadden making most of grad year
Safe to say that Newburyport’s own Katelyn Hadden has been one of the most impactful transfers in all of NCAA Division II women’s lacrosse this spring.
After a successful four-year career at Franklin Pierce University where she totaled 82 points (54g, 28a), Hadden — a Psychology Major — chose to spend her graduate year at Southern New Hampshire University in the loaded Northeast-10 conference. Which is absolutely not hyperbole. In the latest Inside Lacrosse Div. II women’s national rankings, the NE-10 has an impressive six teams inside of the top-25, between Pace (No. 1), Adelphi (No. 3), Bentley (No. 18), Assumption (No. 19), New Haven (No. 21) and St. Anselm (No. 22).
But in arguably the toughest conference in Div. II, Hadden has thrived.
The 5-foot-7 attack has started all 16 games for the Penmen (8-8), and is currently leading the entire NE-10 conference in points with 58 goals and 30 assists. She was named NE-10 Player of the Week for the period ending on April 21st after tallying 15 points in two games, and will now lead SNHU on its playoff run.
The Penmen will travel to Adelphi for the NE-10 Tournament Quarterfinals this Saturday.
Kamuda the speed specialist
When you’re a freshman on a collegiate baseball team that’s currently 34-2, like Endicott College is right now, chances are you probably aren’t playing that much.
But when you’re number is called, you better make an impact.
Which is exactly what former Pentucket star Trevor Kamuda is doing for the red-hot Gulls this spring. The Daily News All-Star walked in his lone at-bat of the season, but has been used primarily as a pinch-runner, and has scored three runs while going a perfect 2-for-2 on stolen base attempts.
