Aydin Jay nets first career goal
Congrats are in order for Boxford resident Aydin Jay, a junior on the Yale men’s soccer team. Jay scored his first career goal in Yale’s first win, 4-1, over Sacred Heart on Saturday.
The midfielder has six shots on goal through the first six games as Yale is 1-4-1.
Jay’s family owns Perfectos Caffe in North Andover at the Butcher Boy Market Place.
Fish captain for UMass Lowell baseball
Former Londonderry High baseball star Brandon Fish has been named a captain for UMass Lowell baseball.
Fish earned America East All-Rookie Team honors in 2021 and noted infielder with .924 fielding percentage while tallying 150 hits, 70 runs, 93 RBI and eight home runs on a .268 batting average as a hitter.
Legend Johnny Bucyk in Methuen
Former Boston Bruins great and Hockey Hall of Famer Johnny Bucyk will be signing autographs on Sun., Oct. 6 at the Methuen Monthly Sports Card Show at VFW Hall on 26 River Street.
After tallying 30 points in 104 games with the Detroit Red Wings, he became a point-a-game player over the next 21 seasons with the Bruins (1,339 points in 1,436 games).
Bucyk has lived in the area since joining the Bruins in 1957.
The cost is $20 per autograph ($5 inscriptions). Photo ops are $5.
The card show, which includes 40 dealer tables of sports memorabilia, runs from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Admission is $2 (under 9 free).

Santa Fund Hole-in-one contest at Garrison
Get your clubs ready for the Eagle-Tribune Santa-Fund Hole-in-One Contest. Take part in the competition from Oct. 2 to Oct. 5 at Murphy’s Garrison Golf Center, 654 Hilldale, Ave.
The contest takes place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Golfers pay $10 for a bucket of balls, trying to get a hole-in-one. There are closest-to-the-pin winners as well. There is also a putting contest which could net over $5,000 to the overall winner.
The event managed to raise $8,000 in 2023. Over the years, the contest has raised $265,000 to help those less fortunate during winter holidays.

Johnson-NAHS Hall of Fame in October
The Johnson-North Andover High School Athletic Hall of Fame will celebrate its 25th Induction Ceremony on October 19th. The event will be held at the Lawrence Elks Club in Lawrence starting at 6 pm.
The Class of 2024 honored inductees includes:
Cassie Bowe, Terry Holland, Kirsten Kasper, Alex Kramer, Karen Murdoch-Lahey, Jarrad Lawlor, Morgan Lumb, Courtney Breen Marble, Amanda Shannon, Brandon Walsh, Matt Zahoruiko, and the 1981 Boys Cross Country State Championship Team.
