Bergeron baseball coach at Windham
The Windham High has named Spencer Bergeron of Nashua, N.H. as the new baseball coach.
Coach Bergeron is a 2016 graduate of Nashua North High where he was a standout student athlete and baseball player. He played collegiate baseball at University of Massachusetts and graduated in 2020 with a degree in Sociology.
Coach Bergeron has been with the Nashua Silver Knights summer collegiate team since 2022 as a pitching coach and is noted youth instructor. He also played two summers for the Silver Knights.
Windham finished 8-13 last spring and open the 2025 season at Exeter on April 4.
Gillette, Maine Maritime red hot
Cedric Gillette’s rookie year as head coach at Maine Maritime is picking up steam with his team winning its sixth straight on Sunday, beating SUNY Cobleskill, 79-51.
Maine Maritime is 9-5 overall and 6-2 in the North Atlantic Conference.
A week earlier, it’s best player was named, senior Curt Heinze, was named Div. 3 Player of the Week, the first time a Maine college athlete copped the honor.
Gillette’s top assistant, by the way is Andover High football coach E.J. Perry up in Castine, Me. Gillette played wide receiver for Perry.
Randall two wins in diving
Former St. John’s Prep diving star, Carter Randall, of North Andover, has had a good few weeks for the LaSalle swim & dive team.
Despite losses in both meets, Randall won the 1 meter and 3 meter men’s diving competition over the last two meets.
Merrimack women hosts MAAC foes
This is a big week for Merrimack College women’s basketball, 3-4 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
Merrimack host St. Peter’s (4-3) at Lawler Arena on Thursday night at 7 p.m. and first place Fairfield, 7-0 (13-3 overall), on Saturday at 3 p.m. on Hammel Court.
Andover’s Littlewood has big weekend
Andover resident Michaela Littlewood had a big weekend in two ties against Holy Cross last weekend, scoring a goal and adding an assist.
The sophomore, a Brooks School alum, will face off this weekend with Hockey East rival, Northeastern.
Littlewood and Merrimack travel to Matthews Arena on Friday before their game on Saturday in North Andover at 7 p.m.
Ross Brooks signing in MethuenFormer Boston Bruins goaltender Ross Brooks will be signing autographs at the Methuen VFW on Sun., Feb. 2.
Brooks had an interesting pro hockey career, playing parts of 17 seasons in the minor leagues while getting three different stints with the Boston Bruins from 1972 to 1975.
Brooks had a lofty 37-7 with the Bruins as a backup over that span.
Autographs cost $12 each with free inscriptions and photo opportunities. He will be signing from 10 a.m. until noon.
It will be part of the monthly card show that goes from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is $2 with children under 9 free.
