On Tuesday, Mariano Angel Cruz Bahena, 30, appeared before Criminal Court Judge Wes- ley Bray and pleaded guilty to a probation violation.
Bahena was nearing completion of his probation for a 2022 plea to attempted bribery of a public servant charge.
He admitted to trying to offer a Crossville Police Officer $200 to not take him to jail during a domestic assault investigation.
Instead of completing his probation on the bribery-related charge in a few months, he will serve one year in jail.
Tuesday Bahena also pleaded guilty to an information charging introduction of contraband into a penal institution when he was arrested for violating terms of his probation.
He received a four-year suspended sentence to be served on supervised probation.
That probation, however, will not start until after his bribery-related sentence is completed.
Last week, Bahena appeared before General Sessions Court Judge Amanda Worley and charges of introducing contraband, simple pos- session of meth and vandalism of up to $1,000 were dropped as a result of the Criminal Court action.
Fine and court costs were waived in the contraband case.
