The Cumberland County Board of Education did not pass the motion to create a special committee to address the evaluation of the director of schools and the board of education.
The vote was 4-4; therefore, it failed without the deciding vote during Thursday night’s special called meeting.
Anita Hale, 4th District; Jon Matthews, 7th District; Scott VanWinkle, 2nd District; and Nick Davis, 5th District; voted to approve creating a special committee.
Sheri Nichols, 3rd District; Travis Cole, 8th District; Shannon Stout, 9th District; and Chairman Chris King, 6th District; voted not to approve the creation of the special committee.
Board member Elizabeth Stull and Director of Schools William Stepp were absent from this meeting.
