OAKLAND — Southern avenged a season-opening loss to Hancock with an 11-0, five-inning rout on Friday.
The Rams (6-8) scored five runs in the fourth to secure the run rule.
Right-hander Adeline Wilson hurled five shutout innings of two-hit ball, striking out five and walking two.
Southern’s Halee Bruckey and Lea Custer both doubled and singled with two RBIs, Ava Witt doubled and Emelee Parks hit safely twice.
Brooklyn McCusker was dealt the loss for Hancock.
Southern is at Preston on Saturday at noon and hosts Tucker County on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

HAMBLETON, W.Va. — No. 3 Petersburg’s hit parade marched to Tucker County and resulted in another win Friday.
Petersburg (19-3) racked up 14 hits, two resulting in home runs by Abi Nettles and Miley Tingler, to score double-digit runs for the seventh straight game.
Shyane Tawney went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and four runs, Nettles and Tingler both had two hits and three ribbies, Carpenter doubled, and Ella Chew (Potomac State commit) and Blair Loy had two hits each.
Carpenter was the winning pitcher spinning three shutout innings of three-hit ball.
Tucker County’s Peyton Hicks doubled. She was also tabbed with the loss on the mound.
Petersburg is at No. 2 Keyser (14-3) on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Meyersdale 7, No. 4 Northern 1
ACCIDENT — Meyersdale pushed across six runs in the opening two frames and rode a Keira Eberly gem to a victory on Friday.
Eberly allowed an unearned run on three hits to get the win, striking out six and walking none.
Myersdale’s Abigail Beal, Kendell Donaldson and Madison Berkley doubled.
Bailey Champlin took the loss in the circle for Northern (8-6), and Kylie Oxford doubled.
Northern welcomes Hancock on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
