OAKLAND — The Southern junior varsity football team ended its season with a 24-8 win over Northern on Thursday.
Lucas Lantz opened the scoring with a two-yard touchdown run with 55 seconds left in the second quarter for the Rams (4-4).
The score was set up on a 10 yard pass from Lantz to Landon Whitehair to Northern’s two.
Lantz also scored the two point conversion on a run to make it 8-0.
With 4:45 left in the third quarter, Lantz scored from five yards out, then found Whitehair for the conversion.
With 8:22 to play, Brody Hanlin found Levi Wilburn from four yards out to put the Huskies (2-5) on the board.
Gavin Maust scored a conversion to cut Southern’s lead to 16-8.
The Rams answered with a five-yard scoring run from Lantz, who also scored the conversion.
Lantz finished with 14 carries for 69 yards and three touchdowns while Phoenix Green had 15 carries for 77 yards.
Defensive tackle Aidan Mayne led Southern with 7 tackles.
