OAKLAND, Md. — Longtime Southern Garrett High School basketball coach Tom Bosley has been selected as grand marshal of the 56th Annual Autumn Glory Grand Feature Parade, scheduled Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. in Oakland.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to honor Coach Bosley as our grand marshal for this year’s parade,” said Nicole McCullough, parade coordinator. “This is just a small way for us to show our appreciation for his long-time dedication to this community and its youth.”
Bosley, who retired earlier this year, was a 1971 Southern graduate and 1976 Frostburg State graduate. His tenure as Southern’s coach spanned 27 years and through three eras — 1978-79 through 1981-82, 1989-90 through 2004-05 and 2014-15 through 2022-23. He led the team to four state tournaments, including a championship in 2018-19.
Bosley tallied seven 20-win seasons while winning five region and 11 conference championships.
In March 2022, Bosley coached the East team at the 45th McDonald’s All-American Game in Chicago, along with assistant coaches Matt Redinger and Corey Bosley. The All-American Game features the best high school basketball players in the nation and Canada.
