DANVILLE — It Takes a Village Mentorship is having its first Youth Leadership Conference.
The “Inspire” conference will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27 at South View Upper Elementary School, 133 E. 9th St., Danville.
The conference is open to all fifth-grade and sixth-grade South View students.
Pastor LeStan Hoskins with the student mentoring program said, “The goal of this event is to expose students to different professions and business owners who demonstrate leadership in their field on a daily basis.”
He continued, “Students will be able to interact with these professionals and ask questions. We will also have two main speakers to encourage students to make good decisions and show them how to apply leadership principles in their daily lives. There will be prizes and games that will be very interactive which will allow them to have fun and compete against one another. We believe in the students at South View and want to inspire them to reach their full potential by doing their best in and out of the classroom.”
The registration fee for the event is $20 for each student. The fee will cover each participant’s T-shirt, gift bag, certificate, two free meals (breakfast and lunch), and snacks.
To register for the event, parents can go to It Takes a Village Mentorship Facebook page, click the link from Event Bright, and fill out the registration form.
There also is an opportunity to sponsor a student if someone would like.
“I believe this conference will be one of a kind and will impact the students in a very positive way,” Hoskins said.
