Medic Regional Blood Center donors on Wednesday will receive a ticket to Gatlinburg’s Anakeesta Mountaintop Adventure Park with their successful donation.
“With the return to school and ahead of the fall season, this is a great opportunity to give back to your community and earn a ticket to one of East Tennessee’s theme parks,” said Kristy Altman, Medic vice president of communications and public relations.
Donors eligible for the promotion are those who give blood successfully at Medic mobile drives or donor centers, including the Crossville Donor Center at 96 Hayes St.
Altman said appointments are not required but always encouraged; go to www.medicblood.org to make an appointment. She added that donors can go to www.medicpass.org to complete the questionnaire before they arrive.
Medic is the primary blood product provider for 24 hospitals, including Cumberland Medical Center, and air medical transport services across 23 counties.
In addition to CMC and other hospitals in the Covenant Health System, Medic services Blount Memorial, Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital, Tennova Healthcare, and UT Medical.
“As a reminder, the blood, platelets, and plasma products on the shelves now are what would be used in a trauma event,” Altman said. “Donated blood takes at least three days to be processed and ready for distribution.”
Medic is an independent, nonprofit organization. Products donated through Medic directly help community members in East Tennessee and Southeastern Kentucky.
