PLATTSBURGH — Hear the best local musical talent at one venue at the 2026 Champlain Valley Voices Benefit Concert on
“This concert is one that has happened for a few years now, where it is a benefit concert for the Champlain Valley Voices, CVV Director William Verity said. “The concert features all kinds of different artists, local community members that normally don’t get on a program together that are able to perform and see each others’ talents all on one program.
“We have soloists and we have duets, and we have smaller vocal quartets and large vocal groups, such as the Champlain Valley Chorus, will be on board along with the Plattsburgh State Gospel Choir, along with the Cumberland Bay Barbershoppers and, of course, the Champlain Valley Voices.”
Each ensemble will perform their own individual music.
“They will be doing their portion of the concert, so there will be one section after the next going up on stage. Every group gets about one or two songs to perform,” he said.
“The Champlain Valley Voices will be performing songs from their upcoming May concert, so we’ll be doing ‘Shenandoah’ and we’ll perform a song entitled ‘Elijah Rock.’ The theme for our May concert is going to be American composers.
“We’re gearing up for our big concert in May. We are going to be premiering a piece that has not been performed in New York entitled ‘Mass for a New Millennium.’ For that one, we are actually flying the composer out from Seattle to be on hand for the New York premiere in Plattsburgh. So with that theme, we are doing other American composers.”
Donations for the concert will assist CVV in purchasing a set of choral risers.
“That currently we don’t have and have to borrow. We are looking to be able to purchase our own set of choral risers, which are rather expensive, so we’re looking to use this program as a way of deferring the cost of purchasing those risers but also using this concert as a way for the community to be able to see all the different aspects of music talent in our North Country community,” Verity said.
“We are really thankful that we are able to have so many people that are interested in performing in this very diverse and unique concert. We’re also very fortunate to have so many talented musicians in our area that we can showcase this great talent.”
The concert will take place Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Plattsburgh United Methodist Church, 127 Beekman St. A $10 donation is suggested.
