DANVILLE — Making sure every child has a bed to sleep in is the mission of Sleeping in Heavenly Peace, and the organization is asking the community for help.
“We’re currently very low on bedding, and we’ll need a lot of bedding for our 100 beds that are coming to Danville next week,” volunteer Dee Ann Ryan said during the public comment section of the Danville City Council meeting on Tuesday.
“Since August, we have delivered 168 beds in Danville,” Ryan said. “We currently have 62 children on our waiting list. We also deliver all mattresses and bedding.”
The Danville hub posted on their Facebook that the organization will get 100 beds in the middle of the month, and currently has 65 beds to deliver. After those are delivered, they are looking to service the Village of Tilton.
They are in need of: new twin-sized flat and fitted sheets, comforters/quilts, pillows, pillow cases, all of which cannot be holiday or religious themed.
Bedding can be dropped off at Roselawn School (Three Kings of Peace), the CASA office, or give them a message and they will come pick it up.
“Next week, Sleep in Heavenly Peace is having a 24-hour build sponsored by Lowe’s in Charlotte, N.C.,” Ryan shared. “Alderman Ed Butler and Keith Groves, a member of our team, are attending that build to supervise volunteers. We will get 100 beds delivered to Danville from that build.”
