Artist Charlene Lehto will teach the finer points of adding sky and clouds to a watercolor landscape during her class from 9 a.m.-noon Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Plateau Creative Arts Center in Fairfield Glade.
“For any landscape painting, the sky sets the mood, and clouds are the interesting features in the sky,” Lehto said. “Bright, puffy cumulus clouds against a clear blue sky, or dark, ominous clouds moving low overhead create a very different feeling in your painting.”
Lehto was raised in coastal New England, and the beaches and fishing villages from Cape Cod to Down East Maine were the first subjects for her watercolors. Later she adopted New Hampshire and Vermont as themes for her paintings, and now includes the landscapes and pastoral scenes of Tennessee.
Join her as she teaches a variety of techniques and colors to achieve beautiful skies. This class is geared toward painters of intermediate skill. A suggested supply list is available, but students may bring supplies they are comfortable with
The fee is $45 for Art Guild at Fairfield Glade members, $60 for guests. Payment is due at the time of registration.
