Is singing your thing? The Plateau Women’s Chorus is currently auditioning new members and invites all to join their sisterhood of singers.
Chorus member Jane Harding describes it as “a Crossville community chorus that welcomes women from teens to homemakers, professionals and women retired from all walks of life.”
She added, “More than just singing, our choir is a supportive community. We value creativity, lasting friendships, and the unique contribution of each member.”
Those interested in joining are asked to reach out to Plateau Women’s Chorus Director Dana Beal at plateauwomenschorus@gmail.com or by calling or texting 305-393-2278 to schedule an audition.
Singers will meet with Beal during the audition and talk about their singing experiences. They will be checked for range and placement within the choir. Music reading ability is highly recommended; learning tracks are provided. Potential soloists are asked to sing an a cappella passage of their choice.
Registration and brunch will be from 9:30 a.m.-noon Saturday, Jan. 31, in Crossville First Methodist Church’s old sanctuary at 100 Braun St.
The registration fee is $45 for the season with scholarships available on request. New members pay $25 for an informal Chorus uniform shirt.
All new singers are assigned a mentor from their section to answer questions and provide support.
Rehearsals are from 3:30-5:30 p.m. each Tuesday from Feb. 3-March 24 in Crossville First Methodist Church sanctuary.
“Director Dana Beal will lead rehearsals that are energizing, creative, inspiring, and instructive,” Harding said. “The chorus also strives to form community amongst the membership, providing opportunities for social interaction and outreach. Come and experience the joy of making music together and connect with fellow music lovers.”
The community children’s chorus, Young Singers of the Plateau, is also auditioning new members. Families of children aged 6-15 are invited to contact Beal to register their young person.
Young Singers of the Plateau meets from 3:45-4:45 p.m. Thursdays beginning Feb. 5 in Crossville First Methodist Church’s old sanctuary. The fee is $20 per child with scholarships available upon request.
The Young Singers will perform during the Plateau Women’s Chorus Sunday concerts. Contact Beal at plateauwomenschorus@gmail.com or 305-393-2278.
