NEWBURYPORT — The Merrimack Valley Ship Model Club returns to participate in the annual Yankee Homecoming festival.
The MVSMC exhibits over 70 ship models by club members and other ship modelers in the area. They feature vessels from ocean liners to rowboats, warships to fishing vessels and clippers to power boats. The models present a wide range of ship modeling techniques and skilled members are on hand to demonstrate many of the secrets of this traditional nautical art. The show will include a piece from “Old Ironsides”, the U.S.S. Constitution.
The club was founded in 2008 and has become one of the largest and most active ship model organizations in New England, according to organizers.
The show, running from Saturday, July 26, through Saturday, Aug. 2, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Unitarian Universalist Church, 28 Pleasant St., Newburyport, is supported by a grant from the Newburyport Cultural Council.
