Shaw Industries Group Inc., a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., was the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend top corporate contributor for the sixth consecutive year.
More than 260 Shaw associates, customers, friends and family members raised $658,166 to support the life-saving mission of the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
“Shaw’s support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital gives our associates the ability to directly create a better future for patients and their families around the world,” said Curtis Callaway, Shaw’s senior director of corporate social responsibility. “What began as a humble effort to combine fitness and philanthropy 10 years ago has grown into something remarkable. Over the past decade, Shaw’s St. Jude Heroes team has raised more than $2.8 million to help ensure that no family ever receives a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food.”
Shaw’s support of St. Jude’s mission — “Finding cures. Saving children.” — extends well beyond race day. Through the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway Program, initiatives such as the St. Jude Cushion Program and St. Jude Cleaner Program, as well as the support of Shaw customers, vendors and more, the company has contributed more than $23 million to the fight against childhood cancer.
“Shaw provides associates with meaningful opportunities to make a positive impact through partnerships with organizations like St. Jude,” said Callaway. “It’s an integral part of our culture and one of the many reasons Shaw is such a special place to work.”
