September is a great time to save a life — and Medic Regional Blood Center has a variety of special incentives for the month.
All blood donors who give blood through Sept. 21 will receive a special-edition fall shirt, said Kristy Altman, Medic vice president of communications and public relations.
“All donors are automatically entered to win a pair of Zach Top tickets from Sept. 15-21,” she said. “New first-time donors will receive a $25 e-gift card for donating Sept. 8-12. Finally, O donors will receive a $25 e-gift card now through Sept. 12 for donating.”
Appointments are not required but encouraged and can be made at www.medicblood.org, via the Medic app, or by calling 865-524-3074. Walk-ins are welcome.
Medic’s Crossville donor center is at 96 Hayes St.
Medic is the primary blood product provider for Cumberland Medical Center and 24 hospitals and air medical transport services across 23 counties. The blood center services hospitals in the Covenant Health System, Blount Memorial, East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, Tennova Healthcare, and University of Tennessee Medical Center.
“As a reminder, the blood, platelets, and plasma products on the shelves now are what would be used in a trauma event,” Altman said. “Donated blood takes at least three days to be processed and ready for distribution.”
Medic is an independent, nonprofit organization. Products donated through Medic directly help community members in East Tennessee and Southeastern Kentucky.
