Semi-Jeep crash near Lewisville injures two
LEWISVILLE — A collision between a semi and a Jeep on Highway 15 Tuesday morning sent both drivers to area hospitals, although with non-life-threatening injuries.
Jacob William Mohwinkel, 31, of Truman was northbound on Highway 15 in a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Armando Magana Mendoza, 41, of Granada was southbound in a 2007 Peterbilt when the vehicles collided at 390th Street (Watonwan County Road 10) on the southern edge of Lewisville at 10:45 a.m., according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Alcohol was involved in the case of Mohwinkel, who was taken to the Mankato hospital, according to the Patrol report. Mendoza was transported to the St. James hospital.
Mendoza was wearing a seat belt. It’s unknown if Mohwinkel was wearing a seat belt, but the air bag on the Jeep deployed.
