MANKATO — Scouts from across South Central Minnesota are collecting non-perishable food items and cash for 22 emergency pantries.
Twin Valley Council’s Scouting for Food campaign began in September and, so far, has collected the equivalent of 44,443 pounds of food.
Each $1 contributed to the campaign is equal to about 12 pounds of food purchases.
According to that formula, area Scouts have collected 7,730 pounds of food for ECHO in Mankato, 1,433 pounds for Cleveland’s emergency pantry, 1,570 pounds for Gaylord, 1,015 for Janesville, $1,050 for Madelia, $817 for New Richland, 14,975 for New Ulm, 2,752 for St. Peter, 68 for Truman, 2,716 for Waseca and 414 for the Wells-Bricelyn food shelf.
