The Cumberland County Board of Education scheduled a special-called meeting following its budget meeting, today, May 19, at 4 p.m. in the Central Services boardroom.
The Cumberland County Commission rejected the school board’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2025-’26 during the Tuesday, May 13 county budget committee meeting.
The school board will discuss in tonight’s meeting how they intend to close the $4 million deficit to produce a balanced budget to tentatively present to the county budget committee by June 17.
In the budget meeting, the board will discuss the budget feedback from the county, look at budget options and set new meeting dates. During the special-called meeting, the board will potentially vote on the balanced proposed budget.
The next budget meeting is scheduled for May 27 at 5 p.m. This meeting is subject to change the time and date.
