PLATTSBURGH — The Champlain Valley Sweet Adelines’ four-part harmonies are back and ready and primed for Singing Valentines on Valentine’s Day, Wednesday, Feb. 14.
“We’ve been doing this for more than 40 years with a timeout for the pandemic,” Carole Harsh, organizer, said.
“We’ve delivered hundreds of Valentines, the Singing Valentines, all around the North Country. This year, we are doing primarily the greater Plattsburgh area on Valentine’s Day from 8:30 in the morning until 7 or so in the evening. People can contact us to call if they want to schedule it.
“We go to the person’s home. We go to restaurants. We go to schools. We go to places of business and deliver singing valentines and a little package of Lake Shore candy. We take a digital photograph and give them a little stuffed animal.”
To arrange for a Valentine surprise that will always be remembered, contact Esther at (518) 561-3715.
“Most people are just really thrilled. It’s something a little bit different than just sending flowers to your sweetheart on Valentine’s Day,” Harsh said.
“It’s very personal and people really seem to enjoy it.
We have a list we sing from that they can choose from. Because we’re only going to be doing the in-person ones in the Plattsburgh area, if people have a person that lives outside of that area we are will be going to be doing some telephone valentines as well. A singing valentine is delivered by phone to the recipient.
Pine Harbour residents got a preview on Wednesday evening.
“It’s one of the most favorite activity of all of our members because it’s just so personal and we all enjoy it so very much,” Harsh said.
“It’s one of our most look-forward-to activities of every year. We’re really glad to be able to get back to doing it after the pandemic has kind of calmed down a little bit. It’s something we’ve been really looking forward to resuming.”
