As the first concert for 6 On The Square’s winter/spring season, singer/songwriter/fiddler Sara Milonovich returns at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, with a stripped-down trio version of her band Daisycutter.
According to a news release, Milonovich, a writer and singer of songs in the alt-country, Americana and folk-roots vein, as well as a world-class fiddler, she has performed all over the world, both with her own band as well as with fellow artists such as Richard Shindell, The Gibson Brothers, The McKrells, Cathie Ryan, Peter Seeger and Eliza Gilkyson. She also played for the Tony Award-winning musical “Come From Away,” both on Broadway and in the national touring company, and she just finished a run for the new musical “Bull Durham” (based on the movie), with music and lyrics by Susan Werner.
Her debut album “Daisycutter” was a nominated Grammy Award semifinalist, and the song “Scarecrow” from her second album “Waiting for the Stars” was a finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, the release stated. In 2022 on the strength of her third album “Northeast,” Milonovich and the band won Best Americana Artist at the Eddies Music Awards, and in 2023 she won the coveted Golden Pick songwriting contest at Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe. She is currently at work on a new record.
Her trio features her longtime guitarist and producer Greg Anderson, along with bassist/singer Bob Buckley (Jim Gaudet & The Railroad Boys.) Expect powerful and beautifully crafted songs, exquisite three-part harmonies and some blistering fiddling.
