Looking for something to get you out of the “winter blues”? Refresh your home and surroundings by supporting the spring rummage sale hosted by the Whitfield-Murray Historical Society.
Coming up Thursday through Saturday, April 11-13, at the Crown Gardens & Archives, 715 Chattanooga Ave. in Dalton, the sale benefits the historical society and its eight historic properties. It will feature a wide variety of collectibles, jewelry, glassware, plants, artwork, furniture, kitchen items, books and other items.
All items for sale are donated by area residents and are reasonably priced.
“We are now working to organize the sale items received and are accepting new donations,” an organization spokesperson said.
The organization accepts most donations with a few exceptions, such as clothes, encyclopedias, Readers Digest collections and large exercise equipment.
Sale hours are Thursday and Friday, April 11-12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, April 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The spring/Easter sale is one of the two principal fundraisers for the historical society, which is dedicated to preserving, collecting, researching and interpreting historical information or items to help future generations understand their heritage.
The historical society owns and maintains the following properties: the Crown Gardens & Archives, which serves as its headquarters in Dalton and was the former offices of the nearby Crown Cotton Mill; other properties in Whitfield that include the Hamilton House, the Blunt House, Dug Gap Battle Park and the Huff House; and in Murray County, the Wright Hotel, the Chatsworth Depot and the Old Spring Place Methodist Church.
