The decades-long tradition of pancakes served seaside by the Gloucester Rotary Club will again take place Saturday.
This year’s event, to be held 7:30-11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Stage Fort Park gazebo will mark the 45th annual observation of pancakes being flipped for the public.
Tickets will cost $10 for adults and $6 for children 6 and younger, and are available in advance online at https://gloucesterrotary.org/. Tickets will also be available at the gate.
Rockport’s Paul Murphy, who serves on the Rotary Club’s board of directors, estimated about 300 people will attend. Murphy also serves as chair of the Rockport Select Board.
This popular event takes place concurrently with the Gloucester Waterfront Festival, which is sponsored by the Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce and is held in Stage Fort Park on Saturday-Sunday, Aug. 16-17.
“The annual Pancake Breakfast that happens each August is one of the signature events of the Gloucester Rotary Club, with the always picturesque Stage Fort Park a backdrop,” Murphy said. “We like to encourage Cape Ann residents and visitors to join us for breakfast.
“The money raised from the breakfast provides scholarships to graduating high school seniors and other community projects at the Rotary Club,” he said. “It’s one of the largest fundraisers of the year.”
